These letters come from people who disagree with me. They are often cruel, hateful, and vengeful. They are a perfect testament to the kinds of people Focus on the Family "harvests" through their agenda. Their words are a thousand times more convincing than anything I could ever write. See for yourself.

It is with a great deal of sadness that I visited your web site on Focus On The Family. To say it is misleading, inaccurate, or subjective would be putting it SO MILDLY that it would certainly not be a clear discription of the hate and bitterness that you display on your site. YOU KNOW FULL WELL that the responses that you listed on your site from SUPPOSELY Focus On The Family supportes are COMPLETELY unrepresentitive of the type of people that support this wonderful ministry! You are no less guilty of fanning the flames of hate and misinformation than organizations like the KKK, SKIN HEADS and other absurd hate groups. I believe I am very representitive of a typical supporter of Focus On The Family. I am a commercial jet captain with a wonderful wife of 30 years and a 23 year old daughter and a 20 year old son. I served in Vietnam as a military pilot though I totally disagreed then and now with our being involved in that war. Last and certainly not least I am a CHRISTIAN. I believe that Christ is the risen Son of God and He is at the very center of my being. People like me have fought and died so people like us can have very different and opposing views. I don't resent your view on Focus On The Family though I disagree with it strongly! What I do resent is your TOTAL lack of accuracy and fairness in how you depict this organization. The good that it has done and the lives that it has touched in a positive way are immeasureable! Say what you like about Focus On The Family just don't call it a "Christian" perspective! If you do please share what portion of God's word specifically that you feel Mr. Dobson and his group are guilty of not being faithful to. I am sure that you WILL NOT INCLUDE this response on your web site, and I am sure why you will not. You have a very obvious agenda that simply will not tolerate fairness! I don't know specifically what your real agenda is but I know exactly what it IS NOT and that is looking at the TRUE FACTS about this organization. You WILL LOSE THIS FIGHT! We lost the war in Vietnam because our motive was wrong and because our government tried to deceive those of us that fought there as well as the American people as to the TRUE FACTS of what was going on in Vietnam. You will lose this fight for the same reason. COUNT ON IT!! Also count on the fact that true Christians like myself will not savor that victory but rather be saddened that your time, energy and obvious talent was so misdirected.

I have read your many letters to the editor and feel compelled to add mine. As a regular listener of Focus on the Family, I can testify that you are completely wrong about the intentions and motives of Dr. Dobson. Dr. Dobsons motives are based purely in love. He has a vast knowledge of the scriptures. I have read my entire Bible... twice. I too could quote Scripture to debunk your messages. Instead, I will simply say that you will be in my prayers. Maybe soon you will no longer be deceived by the great deceiver. I find it interesting that you complain about some taking scripture verses out of context and then you turn around and do the same thing. Exactly what faith or denomination do you belong to?

Are you out of your mind? Focus on the Family does not claim to be perfect, and they aren't, but neither are they from the Devil. Focus on the Family is an orginization that may have flaws, but they do more good in this world than evil. I think you need to examine their motives and yours.

I have to tell you that I actually got some good use out of your misplaced efforts. Our Youth Group laughed at the responses for an hour.

You have only made me see how much more I need to support Dr Dobson. I've only read a few of the top of the list things you have on this site. I'm glad Dr Dobson is saying the things he is saying. I sure do agree with his stance on many issues. And not because he told me to agree, I already agreed before I even heard him the first time. Go take a flying leap.

I strongly disagree with your blatent misrepresentation of the wonderful program that encourages thousands of Christians every day. You said several times that the teachings of James Dobson are not "universally accepted by Bible scholars and other Christians." The only opinion that matters in God's. Why should scholars and other Christians debate about what is written by God in the Bible? Furthermore, you said the Bible mentions nothing about abortion. This is completly wrong! I'm not sure what version of the Bible you refered to while writing this "essay", but the last time I checked mine copy still stated "Thou shallt not kill" as being one of the Ten Commandments. If that's not reason enough not to kill inoccent unborn children I dont' know what is. God creates ALL life and it is not our right to destroy life that has been created "in God's image." Although you of course have the right to print and distrubute almost anything you like, I encourage you to rethink your views and refine your writings to reflect a bit more truth.

I read your article on James Dobson. I must disagree. You say Dr. Dobson owes us a confession of his sins. The Bible does not say that. It says confess your "faults" to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. It does not say "sins". Faults are generic, sins are specific. If I say, "Brother John, please pray with me; I have the hots for your wife", John is not going to be in a mood to pray, but to fight. But if I say, "Brother John, pray with me; I have a problem with lust", John will likely say, "So do I, let's each pray for the other". That promotes healing instead of division. Frankly, I'm not interested in James Dobson's faults, or sins; a litany of them would be boring to me. We don't know each other on a personal level. My Bible says Elijah commanded it not to rain for the space of 3 1/2 years, and it didn't, then it says he was a man of like passions as we are. James Dobson is a man of like passions. He doesn't have to tell me he has lusted; every normal male has lusted. Lust will be with us as long as women are; we are to resist temptations in the power of the Spirit of God, not in our own power. That is where spiritual strength and character are built, and learning to rely upon the power of Christ. But to receive it, we must first receive Christ as our own Lord and Master. You are obviously articulate and educated, but the wisdom of this world is foolishness to God. The things of God cannot be known by the natural man, but must be revealed by the Spirit of God. Until you have turned from sin and received Christ in a spirit of humbleness and dependence upon Him, you can never understand the Bible, but will only wrest the Scriptures to your own destruction. If you ever had a chance at credibility concerning Dr. Dobson, you lost it in the article on abortion. I, too, believed abortion was a good thing, until I was saved and started reading the Bible for myself. My, the things I found out! I discovered God hates murder so badly, that He says in 1st John: "No murderer hath eternal life". Jesus said, "Thou shalt do no murder". The word translated "kill" in the KJB also comes from the Hebrew word for "murder". If you had been around before the War Between the States, the South would still have slaves today. The Bible does not categorically condemn slavery; it does condemn taking the lives of innocent human beings in no uncertain terms. Perhaps you are truly searching for truth. I hope so, and I hope you find it in the Lord Jesus Christ.

When I read some of your articles, I saw indeed want The Bible speaks of in the end days of many false prophets rising up who claim to know God. How dare you claim the name of Christ and then write articles that trample His blood, His Scriptures & His holiness into the ground. As I felt the anger burn within me upon reading your articles, God reminded me instead to feel sorry for you. Those walking in darkness still have a chance to see their need for the Light. Someone like you who is walking in darkness, yet thinks he is walking in the Light has a much harder time of seeing his need for the light. I am glad to see many Christians have sent you letters. Notice how a true Christian confronts. We don't all put up articles on the Internet. We confront you personally. This is Scriptural. You say you have read the Bible for yourself, but you have obviously only read it with you own mind, never with the Holy Spirit interpreting the words for you. This is only available to those who have accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Saviour. You speak of taking verses out of context. This can be dangerous. Yet, that doesn't mean we never can use one verse by itself. God's Word hidden in our hearts will help us to not sin. God can bring back just one verse or a phrase such as Jesus spoke when tested by Satan in the wilderness. Would you say it was evil of Jesus to use a portion of Scripture (just a verse or so) to explain His the truth? Yet you fault Christians for doing the same. I'm sure you put horrible titles to your articles just to get people's attention. If your father is the devil, that's the only way you can do it. If your father is God, you can trust Him with prayer to get the message out. I wish you knew the power of the true God, Elroy. I think you wanted to write the articles to get a following of your own as FOTF has. But Christ has got to be at the focal point of any following or it is useless. I want to thank you for printing all of those wonderful pieces from James Dobson's articles. I want to ask you if you are a Christian? James Dobson doesnt speak on what he views as righteousness but rather what the bible says is righteousness. He is a Godly man who doesnt profess to be perfect or in any way Godly. He is a man who is full of the Holy Spirit and is lead by God to make a stand on the deterirating morality of our country. Why are you so threatened by him? I think it is great that he has the pull in Washington to hold the candidates accountable for their actions. I know that some people had rather that no tabs be kept on those in Washington, but I am not one of those. You do not have to be a seminary graduate to experience God or to be used by God. I am proud to be a Focus on the Family advocate and I agree with all their efforts. Satan is very decieving and frightened by God and you are helping his (satans) cause a great deal. I pray for your salvation and that God will open your eyes to the Truth that you are so against. Your hostility must be very consuming in you life. There is a peace to be found in Jesus Christ, and I do hope you can experience that peace.

I read some of your critiques of Dobson and must say that you sound like an idiot. OF COURSE, he has a vision of what the country should look like; it happens to be the same vision God has. His ability to mobilize people around common causes, driven by a common faith is commendable. People listen to the programs, read the literature, and make their own determinations about how they will respond. When gay rights advocates, N.R.A. members, P.E.T.A., or "pro-choice" proponents rally and gather support for their positions, do you criticize those who function in a leadership role? Dobson happens to have a platform from which he can access millions. As it is, MANY agree completely while others agree in part with the organization's stances and "rally" points. And there are those who disagree vehemently with "Focus". I have listened regularly to the radio broadcasts for several years and have never heard Dobson set HIMSELF up as THE moral authority. His positions clearly reflect Judeo-Christian values. If one does not subscribe to biblical principles, they will have obvious problems with Focus, James Dobson, and ANY OTHER Christian. Your excerpts of dialogue typify tactics of unscrupulous writers who slant perception by leaving out anything that may contract the attemted sway. The quotes are accurate, however they are taken out of context. If you wish to truly crucify Dobson, put an entire shows conversation on your page and allow sane people to draw their own conclusions. Any clear thinker whether they agree or not will recognize that his message is the "Focus", righteous, Godly living is the "Focus", HEALTHY, not perfect families are the "Focus." Moreover, the moral health of this nation, not his own popularity or status, is "THE FOCUS".

It sounds like you are headed straight for hell. You really need to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior. I will be praying for you.
