"Why Focus on the Family is of the Devil"
and "Why Abortion is Biblical"

These are excerpts from the " Letters to the Editor" pages on elroy.net. If the Christian faith were universally understood the same way by everyone, we could expect the reactions to all be the same. They are not. If Christians truly felt secure in the grace of God and truly believed in loving their enemies, you'd expect a less than violent reaction in all cases. It is not. Rather I think you'll find a disheartening disarray of thoughts and emotions. I'm either a genius or the Devil himself, depending on which quote you believe. Sadly, these quotes are a much sadder commentary on the state of Western Christianity than my arguments against Focus and Abortion will ever be. To avoid being seen as favoring some quotes over others, I've sorted them in alphabetical order. The Quotes All and all I do agree with you as far as the damage that that influence can cause. It breeds Pharisees. Just from seeing many of the letters to the editor proves that. I don't think that Jesus would inspire the hate mail that you have gotten. ALL THAT YOU'RE DOING IS SPLITTING CHRISTIANITY IN TWO. Are you absolutely certain that YOU are not of the devil? Are you absolutely nuts or what? Brian you are truly a sick person. Your view of "Why Focus On The Family is of the Devil" is distorted if not outright blasphemous. Brian, I'm really impressed by your beautiful web work. Some of the nicest I've seen. And your links are interesting. Haven't seen them before. Brian, you look normal enough, but obviously you have many problems. BTW, I'm not a Christian, and still think your a joke. COMING ON THE INTERNET AND VENTING ABOUT THE ILLS OF CHRISTIANITY IS ONLY HURTING THE VERY GOD THAT I THINK YOU'RE TRYING TO SERVE. Dear Brian I think your commentary is not worth responding to. Dear Brian, You have a BIG problem and unfortunately you are trying to spread it around. Your opinions on Focus on the Family and abortion are totally wrong. Dear Elroy: I read your "document" and found it to be indicative of someone who is paranoid and vindictive. Do the cause of Christ a favor and pull this garbage off the Internet. Elroy, I thought your page was well laid-out. And it's nice to see a different view of things by someone who knows the Bible. Elroy, repent of your sins and ask Jesus Christ into your life. Then, go back and listen to Dobson. Elroy, what is your problem? Enjoyed reading your writings, very thought provoking. I liked your revision of the "Good Samaritan" Everyone who visits your web site is now dumber because of the ridiculous babble you have placed there. Focus is a Christian built organization whether you like it or not!!! Having seen the link to the article on abortion, I also read this. Another well crafted argument, but in this case you use your title hypothesis to prove that you mustn't draw conclusions in this way. An excellent article, and one which I support thoroughly. In fact you have documented the way that I have been thinking for some time - only better! How arrogant of you. I agree that Focus can be dangerous. I agree totally about what you are saying in your page. I agree with you concerning the stance against scriptures being used out of context. I am fascinated with your work. I applaud your ability in reason and writing skills, but find your current exercise in its use as dangerous to yourself and others. I believe your FOTF article is accurate, and it is great to see someone steadfastly defending God among us as our example. I can not believe what a warped sense of being a Christian you have. Anyone rooted in the word would have to laugh a your ideas even though they are well written. I can't believe that you could hold such a warped view of an organization which God uses so mightily each day. I cannot believe you would even attempt to say that the Bible endorses abortion. I conclude that you-and not Focus on the Family, or other Christian organizations-are Satanic I congratulate you on knowing everything that God intended the Bible to be. It must really be an asset to know what every word and phrase of the Bible means. You are to be congratulated for helping everyone see that the LORD has made himself known to you alone. I did not spend anymore time with your stuff. Maybe if I get real bored or suicidal (just kidding) I'll come back to it. I don't need to read any more of your hate centered writing to know that I don't need it. I enjoyed your articles on Focus on the Family and other topics. I fear my words will be as sounding brass, because your ears are stopped by your hatred of Christians. I find it odd that you would persecute Focus on the Family in the name of Christ. I find your idea of biblical basis for support of abortion to be extremely absurd. I have not read all of your articles yet, but I think you are making some very good points. I hope you will not be the next Ruby Ridge or WACO Texas. I know you are a false teacher. I love you, you are GREAT! Finally, someone who has written what I with my 140 plus IQ and BA in Religion and Perspective could not. God bless you I must agree with one writer, that you truly are warped! I must point out that you use the same media shock tactics to get people to read your web page. I must say how impressed I am at your writing ability. You certainly have conveyed your point in a very direct manner. I am sure that the responses you have received from your commentary have verged on nearly violent. It is rather amazing how a sweet pit bull will sit quietly and then rip your head off after you've hit it with a rolled up newspaper. I would be willing to guess that many of the Christian readers of this piece reacted just like that sweet pit bull. I must say what I read was one of the most pathetic arguments that I have ever heard. I must say, you are one severely warped person. And please don't take that positively. I myself see the errors of Focus on the family and do not agree totally with their views I read with great distress your articles about abortion and Focus On the Family. I read your Web essays on religion, and I liked them a lot. I felt that I could identify with a lot of stuff you were saying. I see you as a bright person and one that God can use I support the kind of work you are doing. It makes all of us think a little harder about what the Bible is, and how we really ought to be using it. I think the devil may be working closer to your home than through the radio. I think you raise an interesting point. I think your commentary is not worth responding to. I thoroughly enjoyed the humor, have you thought about writing professionally for comedy? I thought to send a list of things to try to tell you of your errors, but decided you think you know all, when in reality, you know nothing. I too am tired of the conformity of Christianity. I took a look at some of your writings, and I am impressed. I totally disagree with you. Please reread all mail of the masses of Christians who took the time to reach out to you with the love of Jesus and see why I disagree!! I was appalled. I could write pages to rebut you but I don't think it is worth my time. I was, to say the least, appalled by what I read in your pages. Your page was not worth my time. A lot of ranting and raving but no substance. I'll say a quick prayer for you I'm glad your site is attracting quite a lot of attention. You have been given great talent. I've already responded more than your trite article warranted. In all the years that I listened to focus on the family I never got anything to prepare me for the trials in life. Like you said they only made me feel like I never measured up. All those years they simply entertained me. They bought in rich and famous people to showcase the shows. Always the sensational. Never the common guy who was struggling. Always someone with a new book. It is really nice to see someone who actually had some basis for their beliefs and actually tries to get people to "see the truth" in your arguments. Never before in my life have I seen such a blatant example of God's holy word being twisted and misquoted. Couldn't have put it better ourselves, although we probably would have used a few stronger adjectives. Satan is misleading you and I pray that your eyes will be open to the truth. Satan sure has sold you a bill of goods -- and did you bite! Big time. Sir, you are a very sorry person. Surely you jest! This is not a Christian perspective on anything. The area that troubles me the most is the condemnation of sinful living to the point of making people believe that they are not worthy of the grace of Jesus. The bible says we should shine like lights on a hill, not like cranky old men on a hill!!! The institutionalization of the Church has many sad side effects. The trouble with both sides of the issue is that people are always flavoring the issue to their side. That makes objective discovery and learning very difficult. There's a lot of stuff to respond to, but the most disturbing stuff is the letters to the editor page! What kind of loving understanding are you trying to convey, you people? Here is a man who seems to be legitimately searching for answers and you just blow him off or scream insults like some immature child having a temper tantrum. This person [the new believer in the article] is not IN-Christ, he's "playing" Christian, just like yourself To be honest I really thought you were going to be Christian hating jerk. You seem rather nice and really smart. To put it simply, you are a grade-A IDIOT. Your interpretations of Scripture are some of the worst I have ever seen, and the entire inflammatory nature of your articles rates them as nothing short of Hate-Speech. What you have written is, in my opinion, OF THE DEVIL. I will pray that you see truth and stop this slander With so many sick things going on in the world, it is refreshing to know that some people still appreciate the type of humor that inverts reality to make a point. I feel compelled to express my opposition. You have some out right lies in your article. You know, it's not even worth finishing this response. Go chase your windmills. You must be insane! You need to take the steps to freedom. You seem like an O.K person, even if we don't agree on things You used the form of writing to first catch your readers attention with the title, very well selected for this approach, and then put inflammatory comments and description text interspersed with supporting and unsupported viewpoints. This was very well done! You write well. You're sick, pal. Just thought I'd mention that on my way to dust my feet of your site. You, on the other hand spend your time creating nonsense criticisms you obviously know nothing about. Your accusations and example are unbiblical, and not knowing you, I could even say "from the Devil himself". Your arguments are well formed and intelligently communicated - but I take issue with you on coming to the conclusion you do. Your article "Why Focus on the Family is of the Devil" is simply garbage! Your document is, frankly, bullshit. Your web site is a blatant turnoff to the thousands of unbelievers who might happen to stumble across it.
